Ninety and Nine

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Luke 15:4 (KJV)

Several weeks ago I lost a very special and valuable pair of earrings. For days I searched everywhere trying to find them to no avail. After days of searching and prayer, they were found and naturally I was quite thankful and excited.

This morning I remembered the search for those earrings. The parable of the shepherd leaving his ninety nine sheep to find the one that was lost came to mind. Many of us have loved ones or friends who are lost just like that sheep. In my own life I know I do and my prayers have been ongoing for them to find the Good Shepherd as I have.

Like the shepherd who looks for his lost sheep, we must also continue in our prayers for those who are lost. The enemy will try to make us believe that our prayer is insignificant to God, that it won't make a difference in someone else's life.

We are more precious to God than any earrings or things that crowd our life. And it is our job to pray without ceasing for those who are lost that they too may be found.

Lord, please help us to pray and search without ceasing to help those who are lost in this world. Give us your strength to never give up. Let us be the conduit between Your kingdom and that lost soul that you have brought to our mind.
